Jimmie NelsonA Salute to Black American Jazz at the state capitol, 1981.Oklahoma Historical Society / The Gateway to Oklahoma History · Original source

The collection brings together ensemble histories, Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame research, and source records naming performers, leaders, and instruments. These materials offer different views of musical work: a group account, an individual career, or a photograph of a particular occasion.

Recognition dates and performance dates answer different questions. The pages preserve the source context so an induction year is not mistaken for the beginning of a musical career.
