The documented story
Later newspaper reporting documents rehearsals at Central Park Recreation Center, approximately ten to fifteen annual appearances, and performances at parks, schools, retirement centers, civic events, Mayfest, Drillers games, and July Fourth events.
People and leadership
A. J. McNaughton was the first documented director. Newspaper coverage identifies Dwight Dailey as conductor in the later 1980s and early 1990s; a complete succession is not necessary to state the verified origin.
Community and organization
The founding sponsor was the Tulsa Park and Recreation Board. Later evidence describes an open, volunteer adult community ensemble drawing players from Tulsa and surrounding communities.
Reading the evidence
The Oil Capital Band, Tulsa American Legion Band, Shrine bands, and Akdar Temple Band remain separate organizations. The site will not claim a 1938 origin or a continuous lineage through those groups. Item 4 disposition integrated; remaining evidence limits are explicit.
Questions for further research
The exact organizational-meeting date and full original roster are desirable enrichment, not publication blockers.
