Woods County

Musical history, people, ensembles, photographs, and source material from the Oklahoma Musicians Library.

The musical history of Woods County.

Woods County's currently accessible band history is centered on Alva and its school system. A 1951 Alva High School yearbook is available for direct review, and Alva Review-Courier coverage identifies the “Band of Gold” as a continuing local band tradition. The county's smaller communities, including Waynoka, Freedom, Dacoma, and Capron, are not yet represented by a verified pre-2000 band chronology in the current online record.
