Musical history, people, ensembles, photographs, and source material from the Oklahoma Musicians Library.
Beaver County has a documented instrumental-music history reaching at least to March 1894, when the Beaver Advocate reported that the Beaver band was progressing and soon expected to replace discord with melody. By April and May, the Beaver Cornet Band was giving street parades, sponsoring benefit balls, adding a tenor horn, and preparing to play for Memorial and Decoration Day events. This is direct evidence of an organized brass or cornet band in Beaver before statehood.
